Skydive Maubeuge Dropzone Brief

Contents

    No headings.

This DZ has very large landing area (map here) with plenty of outs so it easily accomodates all levels of skydivers.  Be aware that there are other flying activities on the DZ so try to avoid flying over runways.  There's a grass runway here for gliders (The Porter uses it sometimes as well)--don't land on the grass runway.

It's tempting to land close to the hangar (there are no rules against it), but keep in mind that most of the swoopers/people under high-performance canopies gravitate towards that area.  Be cautious if you are choose to land there.  Also, if you're landing near the hangar, be mindful of rotors from wind blowing over the hangar (rule of thumb, wind rotors travel twice as far as an obstacle is high).

The surrounding/nearby farm grows corn--cornstallks grow quite high and if you find yourself landing there, it's going to probably be a--well, self-critiquing experience.  Be prepared to PLF if you end up there (if you do end up there, a lot of things have already gone wrong---try to get away without an injury!)

Finally, there is a large number of students who use this DZ---they tend to land quite far, open high and are generally last down---as always, keep your head on a swivel when under canopy.
