WELCOME!
So you're somehow involved with NATO/SHAPE and you want to learn to skydive, then this is the page for you!
Bad news first: The SHAPE Skydiving Club does not provide training or tandem jumps. None of our members have the required licenses or gear required to do training.
BUT, the good news is, we were all beginners once so we can help guide you through the learning process. We can recommend training programs, we've found dropzones nearby that can do lessons in English, or in French, or if you're really motivated we can point you to places where you can take a vacation and learn to skydive. We aren't officially affiliated with any of these Dropzones, we just really want to try hard to get new people in the air and grow our sport. Feel free to ask questions!
Tandem Jumps
Tandem is the way many of us were introduced to the sport and is a great place to start. Some of you may be looking for just a "one time" experience---that's okay too, we can help you do that! Be warned though, that's how some of us got our start---we liked it so much we just had to keep doing it! To date, we've taken six people out to the dropzone for a tandem jump and they all have loved the experience.
What does it Cost?
All flying is expensive, but people are often surprised to find out that skydiving is really no more expensive than SCUBA or even Golf (think about it, green fees, new clubs, crazy shoes that you can only use on the golf course). Many people are put off by initial training costs vary depending on where you choose to jump. I'm not going to list hard prices here, as each dropzone is a commercial operation and they each have their own business strategy, but as a guide expect to pay about 200 euro for a tandem jump, and expect to pay about 2,000 euro for your skydiving license. The good news is once you have your license, the cost of a jump drops dramatically--we are paying 19 euro per skydive at our home dropzone.

For more information, there are great articles already online at www.dropzone.com. Be sure to check out the section on learning to skydive. There is also an excellent website describing what your first jump will be like: Becoming a Skydiver. You can also look at the training programs at a few of the DZ's here in Europe (this isn't an all inclusive list, there are plenty of other DZ's throughout Europe and this does not constitute official endorsement in any way, shape, or form. A member of the SHAPE skydiving club has jumped at each of these dropzones and that's the only reason they are listed here):
